Heart of village

The cottage is situated right in the heart of the historic village of Sherston  896 AD.  The village Post Office/ grocery shop (stocks delicious local produce) is only a short walk down the high street .  A large childrens' playground (including obstacle course) and recreation  field is within 100 yards and in view from upstairs of the cottage.  Also within easy walking disance are an excellent Farm shop (butchers, vegetables and bread), wine shop and two excellent pubs should you wish to dine out.  You can also take some lovely walks around the village and surrounding beautiful countryside  - a copy of the Sherston Walks and village guide is in the cottage.

Within easy reach

Surprisingly Sherston is within easy reach of rail, motorway, and airports.  London Paddington is within 1.5 hours from Kemble Station, which is about 12 miles from Sherston.  The M4 motorway Junctions 17 and 18 are both less than a 20 minutes drive away.  London Heathrow is less than an hour and a half drive and Bristol airport about an hour's drive.

Great base

Sherston's  location in the South Cotswolds means it is ideally situated for Lacock (beautiful National Trust village where Cranford, Pride & Prejudice, and Harry Potter have all been filmed), Castle Coombe (another beautiful village where War Horse and Dr Dolittle have all been filmed), and  Westonbirt National Arboretum (one of the most spectacular tree gardens in the world) is also just down the country lanes.  Not much further South you'll discover Bath (England's finest Georgian town) and Bristol (Historic harbour city) both only 30 minutes away.  A bit closer just 10 minutes away is the traditional market town of Tetbury (England's premier destination for antique hunters and home to Prince Charles's much visited Highgrove Shop).

Northwards you can further exlore the beautiful Cotswolds countryside, towns (e.g. Cirencester, Gloucester and Cheltenham) and other beautiful villages (e.g. Bibury, Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the Wold, Chipping Campden, Burford, and Broadway).

"Royal" destination

It's not surprising that celebrities and Royalty have chosen to live in this wonderful part of the world with Gatcombe Park (famous for its annual August horse trials) the home of Princess Anne.  Also nearby is Highgrove the estate of Prince Charles and weekday tours of the renown Gardens at Highgrove may be booked on-line, together with a series of seasonal demonstrations, hands-on workshops and Christmas black-tie dinner!  Prince Charles is also the Patron of The Beaufort Polo Club  which is also only a few miles away.
