Accident & Emergency

 

Nearest hospital is in Cirencester (17miles) and has a Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) with twenty four hour nurse and medical cover.  Telephone: 01285-655711

In the event of an emergency you should call the emergency services number 999 using the red public payphone on the left of the High Street as you exit the cottage.  If you have a mobile then dial 112 for emergency services.

Appliance/ equipment manuals

 

Located in top left drawer of the chest in lounge. 

Baby bottle steamer

 

A baby bottle steamer is kept in the cupboard above the washing machine in the utility room.

Church services

 

Church of the Holy Cross can be seen from the rear windows.  Normal Sunday services are:

  • 8.00am Holy Communion
  • 9.30am Sung Eucharist
  • 6.00pm Evensong

A family service is held every third Sunday ay 9.30am.

The Church is open every day from 9.00am until 5.00pm (approx) for prayer and quiet reflection.

Christmas Tree Lights/Outside lights

 

Please make sure these are switched off at the sockets before going to bed.

Cot bed

 

A travel cot bed is keep in the Study/ Cot bedroom

Departure

 

Please put the set of door Keys back through door on your departure.  Please vacate the property by 10am unless we have agreed another time.

We would be grateful if you will leave Lantern House in a clean and tidy condition.

Please use the tablecloth/ mats provided in chest of drawers in the lounge.

Detergent and rinse aid is located under the sink.

Electricity fuse box

 

Is located in the cupboard on the wall to the right of the washing machine in the utility room.

It incorporates automatic fuse trips (RCDs).

A torch is located in this cupboard.

Located in utility and kitchen respectively.

 

Groceries

 

The village Post Office/ grocery shop (stocks delicious local produce) is adjacent.  Also within easy walking distance is an excellent Farm shop (butchers, vegetables and bread).

Heating

 

The heating is normally left on during Winter months.  If you wish to switch it off or on please press the button marked “heating” on the timer programme switch in the utility room above the boiler.

Radiator thermostats may be adjusted to suit your needs. 

High Chair

 

A Stokke baby high chair is kept in the utility room.

Hoover

 

In cupboard in lounge.

Hot water

 

Lantern House has an instantaneous hot water boiler, which should always be left on.

If there is no hot water please check the hot water red light is showing on the programme switch in the utility room above the boiler.  If not please press the button marked “water”.

Hot water bottles

 

Located in cupboard next to sink.

Iron/ironing board

 

Located in tall cupboard in utility room.

Keys

 

A set of keys provided are for: front door (Yale and mortice), back door (mortice) and rear courtyard entrance (mortice).

Please make sure you use the front door Yale lock.

Market days

 

Tetbury: every Wednesday.

Pets

 

No pets are permitted in Lantern House.

Places to visit

 

A folder containing some leaflets for your information is provided.  For families Westonbirt Arboretum (approx 4 miles away) is a great place for a walk.  They also have a small playing area for the under 5’s. 

The Leisure Centre at Malmesbury is only 10 minutes away and has a good sized pool.

The Wildlife Park at Burford (1 hour drive) is good for families as is Bristol Zoo.

Lacock, a National Trust Village is worth a visit and is approximately 30 minutes away near Chippenham.

Bath, Cheltenham and Swindon are all good for shopping and about 40 minutes away.

Further into the Cotswolds, The Slaughters, Bourton on the Water, Stow on the Wold Burford and Broadway are all lovely places to visit.

Dyrham Park a National Trust House and Gardens is nearby on the A46 towards Bath.

Children’s Park area – turn right out of front door and is located 100 yds up the road.

Provisions

 

Can be bought next door at the Post Office or from Tucks Farm Shop which is located on the road to the right after the Rattlebone Inn.  Tucks provide bread, dairy products, organic meats and vegetables and other necessary provisions mostly sourced locally.  The Post Office also have local bread, eggs, provisions etc.

Located immediately outside on the left of the High St.

Pubs/ Eating Places

 

The Rattlebone Inn has a good reputation for food.  The Gumstool Inn, just outside of Tetbury at Calcot also does good food.  The Kings Arms in Didmarton about 4 miles away is also good as well as the pub in Luckington approximately 3 miles away.  

Rubbish/ recycling

 

When kitchen bin is full please empty in the Green general refuse wheelie bin in the courtyard.

Spare bin bags are under the sink.

Cans, bottles and papers may be put in the black recycle box located in the courtyard.

Smoking

 

Smoking is not permitted at Lantern House.

Spare light bulbs

 

Located in cupboard above the microwave.

Torch

 

A torch is located in the electricity fuse box cupboard on the wall to the right of the washing machine in the utility room. 

Tourist information

 

Nearest offices are Tetbury (Tel: 01666 503 552) and Malmesbury (Tel: 01793 751394) both just over 5 miles away.

TV/DVD/Video

 

Includes a digital freeview receiver.

A selection of videos, dvds, games are provided on the bookcase and in the chest of drawers.

Visitors Book

 

Please leave your name and where you are from, together with any comments in the visitors’ book in the lounge. 

Washing machine

 

Some detergents are available for your use in the utility room.  Please do not put detergents or clothes in cupboards above as they get quite hot because of the boiler flue.

Water stop cock

 

Located under the kitchen sink.

Wood burner

 

You are welcome to use the Wood burner in Winter months.  A stock of logs is kept in the Courtyard under the small roof at the Courtyard exit.

To light the Wood burner you can use scrunched up old newspaper and kindling wood in the centre of the burner and a couple of logs to either side.  Ensure the vent lever (immediately above the glass door) is to the right.

Feed approximately every couple of hours depending on the wood and adjust the vent lever to control heat/ rate of burn.  Keep the door closed.

It is emphasised that the hirer must take full responsibility for the safe use of the Wood burner.

Wooden work surface in kitchen

 

Please use a chopping board at all times and wipe any excess water from the work surface to ensure it can be kept as hygienic as possible for all our guests.
